Welcome to Editor & Chef by me, Allison East.
For almost four years now, I have wanted to explore writing at the intersection of my interests: cooking, reading, editing, and designing books, to name a few things. My best friend and I started an initial blogging venture right out of college, and funnily enough, we never told anyone about it and then we went to grad school. Yet Editor & Chef has lived on in my little brain all this time.
What is Editor & Chef, you might wonder. It started as a nickname while I was editor of my university’s student-run newspaper. And since then, it has become a quippy way I think about myself. Bookish nerd meets Julia Child devotee. Stacks of novels and shelves of cookbooks. Red pens and manuscripts, spatulas and burp rags.
I don’t quite know exactly how to pinpoint what I’d like to share here, but I am confident as I begin to write again, to sort through my thoughts and carve out a little corner of the internet for myself, maybe I will have something to say. I think I’ve thought I needed to perfect some kind of concept before sharing it with anyone. That presenting anything less than a NYT bestselling food memoir would be a sham. But I’m trying to think differently.
